Gollis University and Qorax Energy Company partnership to create robust renewable energy industry in Somaliland

Hargeisa-Somaliland Minister of National Planning Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire accompanied by the deputy Commerce Minister Adam Diriye Egal attended a ceremony intended to unveil utilization of renewable energy namely solar power which the local university of Gollis partnered with US stationed company by the name of Qorax Energy Company on Thursday night.

The ceremony took place at Safari Hotel in Hargeisa and was also attended by the president of Gollis University Dr. Sa’ed Ahmed Hassan and the director of Energy department to the ministry of Mining, Emery and Water Resources Suleiman Abdilahi Jama.

President of Gollis University made short speech at the ceremony told the audiences the sole objective behind the meeting and was to unveil the cooperation between Gollis University and the US based Company of Qorax Energy to jointly implement projects exploring how to employ in solar power to Somaliland people.

Commerce Deputy Minister Adam Diriye Egal told that the utilization of renewable energy of generating light adequate to Somaliland will be great opportunity for the people of Somaliland and called upon the attendees to take advantage of ideas exchanged during the program.

The director of Energy Suleiman said that the partnership came at time that the ministry of Energy formulated the plan that will guide the utilization of solar power and also coincided with the cutting a lot of trees due to the use of charcoal.
